Camarillo, CA November 5, 2004 -- Gillaspy Associates, a leading sales organization for high-speed data SAN/LAN network analysis instrumentation, announced the availability of Finisar’s new line of Bus Doctor protocol analyzers. Gillaspy has listed these new cutting edge analysis tools on their test and measurement website Protocol Tools located at http://www.protocoltools.com

The Bus Doctor line of protocol analyzers offers an unprecedented level of modularity and configuration. Bus Doctor is the only protocol analyzer to support storage, network, backplane and peripheral busses, analyzing more busses at the protocol level than any other protocol analyzer. Just attach a particular bus pod, and Bus Doctor becomes a dedicated protocol analyzer for that bus. This modular design gives the user efficiency and an extremely attractive value proposition.

The newest Bus Doctor Analyzer RX-252 is a groundbreaking product with performance and capabilities that redefine the high-end of the bus analyzer market. Designed specifically for high speed, multi-lane, multiple protocol serial buses, it provides the analysis and test tool engineers need to design and manufacture products for PCI Express* x16 architecture and Wide Port Serial Attached SCSI (SAS).

The Analyzer supports 252 memory channels permitting it to keep up with the greater data throughput of bus types like Wide Port SAS; the possibility of lost or dropped packets is completely eliminated. An onboard processor speeds up trace analysis functions such as filtering and histogram creation. Up to 9.2 Gigabytes of physical buffer memory reside on the BUFF version of the RX-252, providing one of the deepest memory buffers available on any analyzer.

The signature Bus Doctor Software environment, with its familiar Command, State and Histogram listings, has been significantly enhanced to support multi-lane data found in Wide Port SAS and PCI Express architecture. A new Tree Listing provides for viewing a high-level summary of a multi-packet sequence using the familiar tree-view which allows for expanding or collapsing the detail in command sequences. It retains the ease of use that has long been a hallmark of Bus Doctor Software.

The RX-252 is completely portable. Pods are designed to dock and lock with the analyzer to form a single instrument. Bus Pods Supported by the Bus Doctor Rx Protocol Analyzer: ATA/ATAPI/UDMA, Serial ATA (SATA), Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), SCSI I - 320, Gigabit Ethernet, iSCSI, Fibre Channel 1 & 2 Gb/s, USB 1.1 & 2.0, PCI Express, 1394a (Firewire), InfiniBand™, CardBus, PCMCIA, Compact Flash.

"We are committed to providing the best selection of test solutions for our customers. With the addition of Finisar’s new Bus Doctor line of analyzers our customers will have unmatched flexibility and power to choose from for their testing needs. We are confident that our offering of products and support are the best in the industry," said Joe Gillaspy, president of Gillaspy Associates.
