Anue Systems Supports TIA-921/ITU-T G.1050 Network Model
GEM Network Emulator Facilitates Testing of any IP-Based Service
Austin, TX – October 25, 2006 – Anue Systems, the performance
leader in network delay and impairment emulation, announces the immediate
availability of support for a standards-based network emulation model.
The Network Model for Evaluating Multimedia Transmission Performance over
Internet Protocol is published by the Telecommunications Industry Association
as TIA-921 and the International Telecommunications Union as ITU-T G.1050.
The model accelerates the development of IP-based services by defining
time-varying values for packet delay, loss and reorder for 133 typical
end-to-end network configurations with eight levels of impairment severity,
resulting in 1064 network/impairment combinations that reflect the range
of conditions in currently deployed networks.
“It’s the perfect combination – Anue Network Emulators
and a standards-based model for network impairment,” said Jason
Nutt, Director of Product Marketing at Anue. “To properly model
a network you need two things – realistic levels of impairment and
a network emulator with the precision and performance to faithfully re-create
those impairment levels at line rate with accuracy and repeatability.
The TIA and ITU-T provide the model and Anue Systems provides the most
powerful network emulators available.”
The network model algorithm uses typical LAN, access and core network
characteristics as input and produces as output dynamic values for end-to-end
packet delay, loss and reorder that vary over time in the same manner
as conditions in deployed networks. The scenarios are based on actual
network data provided by anonymous IP service providers and IP network
equipment manufacturers. The model is designed to facilitate testing of
any IP-based service, including voice, video, data or combinations as
found in triple-play services.
The network model is available for the Anue GEM Network Emulator series.
The TIA-921/G.1050 option supports all 1064 scenarios defined in the standards
plus the creation of custom scenarios.
