NetWisdom SAN Monitoring


NetWisdom is a Storage Area Network assurance solution that monitors, diagnoses and prevents SAN performance slowdowns and failures. Finisar's dedicated hardware or software monitoring solution enables SAN administrators to view critical data about their SAN and increase performance and reliability.

NetWisdom software is an Enterprise Storage Area Network assurance solution that provides the deepest level of fibre channel SAN traffic and fabric monitoring available. NetWisdom, combined with SAN probes and TAPs collect metrics about underlying SAN protocol and data traffic to provide performance and fault detection at the packet level accuracy. The NetWisdom software collects metrics from SAN fibre channel probes and virtual fabric probes and saves them to a persistent database. The data is available for viewing via graphs, tables and real-time monitors. Historical metrics are summarized and tracked. Policies dictate the behavior of alarms and notifications.

NetWisdom allows SAN administrators the ability to monitor distributed SANs for performance slowdowns, immediately detect failures or faults thereby increasing the reliability of their SANs. NetWisdom proves whether the SAN is a factor in application slow downs or not.

NetWisdom provides continuous line rate monitoring that calculates statistics based on seeing "all" the fibre channel frames that are traveling through the SAN ensuring knowledge about the data movement and data integrity throughout the SAN. NetWisdom provides event recording and line rate capture capabilities, performance trending of SAN device components to identify hardware degradation and preemptively replace components before they actually fail, and the ability to gather in-depth fibre channel network statistics such as pending exchanges to tune queue depths for maximum performance.
