SANmark Solutions

SANmark is a program established by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) to provide objective indicators of how Fibre Channel products perform against reasonable quality and interoperability standards.

The SANmark program permits the use of the trademarked term "SANmark," and any associated logo(s), in the identification and promotion of products meeting the published test indices. The goals of the SANmark Program are to:

* Make Fibre Channel solutions easy to use, easy to install, manage, configure, diagnose, and trouble shoot.
* Ensure that Fibre Channel continues to attain the highest performance and "installed base maturity" available in the market.
* Proliferate heterogeneous shared SAN resources and heterogeneous management framework over WAN connections.

To receive SANmark qualification, organizations run test scripts against their devices using one of Finisar's qualification solutions. Saved traces are submitted to the FCIA for approval. Using the Advantage product, users know immediately whether or not their devices have passed the tests. Products passing the tests receive the SANmark designation, along with rights to a trademarked "seal of quality" logo, which they can reference in product collateral, packaging materials, and on the product itself.

SANmark provides the storage networking industry with world-class interoperability and a standards initiative that addresses end-to-end heterogeneous solution convergence. Interoperability in a heterogeneous environment translates into productivity gains. Less time is spent debugging, providing for more time for building, deploying, and using SAN solutions.

SANmark's value to developers is realized by reducing the time to market for new products by significantly reducing the time required to interpret, implement, and validate standards.

The value of SANmark to end users is seen in reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) to certify, maintain, and support the network infrastructure. The lower TCO is realized by greater uptime, fewer bugs, faster resolution of problems, and improved product reliability.
