This comphrehensive overview of the PCI-X architecture explains the system block diagram of a computer platform that implements the PCI-X bus. PCI-X architectural as well as bus performance are covered in detail, and the mechanism for completing a data transfer is described. The device configuration process is also explained from a software perpsective.
